Still Quiet Within the Australian Basin
The current satellite image continues to show patchy cloudiness and isolated to scattered thunderstorms from the Timor Sea and northeast Western Australia to the Cape York Peninsula. The main development areas around Australia will continue to see isolated to scattered thunderstorms over the next several days. However, conditions will unfavorable for tropical cyclone formation within the Australian basin through at least next week.

To the east, there is a broad and loosely organized area of low pressure over the central southern Indian Ocean, between 70 and 75 degrees east. This low will continue to drift toward the southwest over the next few days. The low will move into an area where conditions are less than ideal for development, thus it is looking less likely the low can reach tropical cyclone strength. Regardless, this feature will be no threat for Australia and likely a minimal threat to land.
