Snow, wintry mix to disrupt travel over Rockies, interior Southwest into Sunday evening

As the first in a series of Pacific storms pushes inland, locally heavy snow and wintry mix conditions will affect areas from Idaho and Montana to Arizona and New Mexico into the end of the weekend.
While a power house storm with blizzard conditions is not foreseen in these areas, enough snow and ice can occur to create slow and slippery travel over a broad area.
A general 6-12 inches of snow is forecast to fall on the Wasatch Range, part of the Colorado Plateau in Arizona and along the western slopes of the ranges that make up the Rockies.
Motorists should be prepared for wintry travel when heading northeast of Las Vegas on Interstate 15, over portions of I-70 in Utah and western Colorado, I-40 in Arizona and western New Mexico and I-80 from Nevada to western Wyoming.

Around Salt Lake City, a mixture of snow and ice is forecast with up to a few inches of slush in store.
Meanwhile, Flagstaff, Arizona, can expect more than enough snow to shovel and plow.
Unlike some of the recent storms in the Southwest, this storm will bring rain to Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Tuscon, Arizona.
Rain is expected from parts of the California deserts to Phoenix, southwestern New Mexico and through the Rio Grande Valley in central New Mexico.
