The weather in London led to a perfect photo op of the royal couple on Thursday night -- and the photos are creating quite the buzz online.
Rain started to pour down as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, emerged for their first public joint appearance since they announced they were stepping away from royal duties in January. As the couple walked to an event in London, Prince Harry held his umbrella high over Meghan to shield them from the rain.
Rain remained steady for most of the day in London, starting early Thursday afternoon and continuing until late Thursday night.
Prince Harry and Meghan were attending the Endeavour Fund Awards which takes place at the Mansion House in London, which is an annual ceremony that honors servicemen who are wounded and have helped their recovery through challenging physical activities such as sports.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will step back from the roles as senior royals on March 31, according to the BBC.
The couple plan to attend other events this weekend, including the Mountbatten Music Festival, before attending a much anticipated event with the Queen and other members of the royal family at Westminster Abbey.
The couple may need to have a brolly handy through into early week as more rain is possible through Monday.
Intervals of rain returned on Sunday, with more rain expected in London by Monday afternoon into Monday night.
