Gordon-enhanced rain, storms to heighten flood threat across the Midwest
Moisture once associated with Gordon will contribute to heavy rain and flooding across the Ohio Valley and into the Northeast through the weekend.
Downpours caused flooding in and around St. Louis on Friday and Friday night, a danger that will spread eastward throughout the weekend.
This potentially disruptive wet weather will shift toward Indianapolis, Louisville and Cincinnati into Saturday evening.

"Many areas in Missouri, Illinois and Indiana will continue to see a risk of flooding during the day Saturday," according to AccuWeather Meteorologist Ryan Adamson.
Anyone planning to attend an outdoor sporting events will need to prepare for soaking rainfall and saturated playing field.
Spectators heading to Purdue for Saturday's game will need to wear plenty of rain gear and be ready to evacuate the stadium in case of lightning. Increasingly wet weather is also expected for the games taking place at Ohio State, Notre Dame, Kent State, Akron and University of Pittsburgh that afternoon and evening.
"Flooding will be possible in central Indiana and spreading throughout much of northern and central Ohio throughout Saturday night," Adamson said.
The 25th Annual Brickyard 400 is set to take place at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Sunday afternoon will contend with soaking weather as a result. With rounds of heavy rain expected to batter the Indianapolis area into Sunday afternoon, a long delay or altogether postponement is possible.
"By Sunday persistent heavy rainfall may cause the risk of flooding to expand to eastern Ohio, western Pennsylvania and northern West Virginia," according to AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Alex Sosnowski.
Drenching rain will also fall on parts of northern Virginia, Maryland and Delaware, while dry and cooler air spread over New England this weekend.
Following the cool push of air in New England, much of the northeast will be faced with waves of heavy rain that could also bring flooding.
