96th National Christmas tree lighting: Spectators in DC to experience dry, breezy conditions

America's Christmas Tree will be on display in front of the White House in full glory starting this week.
The 96th National Christmas tree lighting ceremony is Wednesday, Nov. 28, hosted by President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump.
Spectators can look forward to dry, seasonable conditions with temperatures in the low 30s throughout Wednesday evening.
"However, it will be a bit breezy with gusts in the range of 10-20 mph to the northwest," AccuWeather Meteorologist Rob Richards said.
Performers include Thompson Square, Paul Cardall and Matthew West.

The festive ceremony dates back to 1923 during Calvin Coolidge's presidency. He marked the holiday season in front of 3,000 spectators on the Ellipse at the Presidential Park in front of the White House, where the tree remains today.
Every state is represented with an ornament from sponsoring organizations. The ornaments are placed in plastic spheres to protect them from weather.
