108 years in the making: Sunshine to highlight Chicago Cubs World Series parade Friday
Dry weather and sunshine will greet fans and players of the Chicago Cubs as they celebrate the team’s first World Series victory since 1908 on Friday.
The Chicago Cubs defeated the Cleveland Indians in a thrilling Game 7 of the 2016 World Series on Wednesday night, ending the organization's 108-year World Series victory drought.
Revelers will pack the streets of Chicago to celebrate the long-awaited championship on Friday.
The World Series victory parade will begin at Wrigley Field around 10 a.m. CDT and end a few hours later at Lower Hutchinson Field in Grant Park.
Fans can leave raingear and heavy winter coats behind as dry and seasonable conditions are in store for the festivities.
“Not only will it be dry in Chicago, but dry weather is expected across all of Illinois and surrounding states,” AccuWeather Meteorologist Michael Doll said.
“The weather will not be a deterrent for Cubs fans to travel to Chicago for the parade,” he said.
Temperatures will climb from the lower 50s F at the start of the parade to the upper 50s to near 60 degrees Fahrenheit during the afternoon.
It will feel slightly cooler in the shady areas amongst the taller buildings along the parade route, Doll said.
Fans who continue celebrations into Friday night may want to consider bringing along a jacket, as lows will dip into the 40s.
