More Rain for Cottage Country
The combination of recent heavy rainfall combined with melting snow and ice has led to a serious flood situation from Huntville to Bracebridge and the Kwartha Lakes regions of Ontario.
Unfortunately, more rain is on the way for Tuesday night. The good news is that the front will be moving along so that rainfall amounts should be generally 20 mm or less for much of the flooded region.
The EC map below shows the percentage of normal precipitation for the past 30 day period across parts of Ontario.
As you can see, much of the Lake Huron region and up toward North Bay has seen anywhere from 150 to 250 percent of normal precipitation. Much drier out toward Cornwall.
The second map below shows the percentage of normal precipitation over the past 30 days for the Prairies.
Quite a difference from southwestern Saskatchewan (extremely moist) to central Saskatchewan and parts of Manitoba (drier than normal).

Tornado
If you have not already heard, the first confirmed tornado for the season in Canada touched down Thursday evening about 6 km northwest of Shelburne, Ontario. The tornado caused some damage and was rated an EF1 on the enhanced Fujita system.
