AccuWeather's StoryTeller Brings Instantaneous, Live Polling to On-Air Broadcasts
New StoryTeller Polling App allows broadcasters to incorporate live audience voting via Twitter, web polls and QR codes to live newscasts with ease.
AccuWeather Global Weather Center -- April 14, 2015 -- AccuWeather, Inc., the global leader in weather information and digital media, presents an interactive polling application for the StoryTeller(r) Interactive Touchscreen Solution, providing real-time viewer feedback and polling results at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) show this week.
The StoryTeller Polling Application, designed specifically for use with AccuWeather's revolutionary, high-resolution touchscreen system, provides newsrooms with the ability to easily create online polling questions for their websites. During on-air broadcasts or promotional segments, stations can invite their audience to vote on virtually any topic, from politics and sports to topical stories such as holiday spending and regional issues. As viewers place their votes, the Polling App instantaneously accesses the results, allowing for live, on-air feedback of the audience's point of view.
The enhanced application provides multiple methods for stations to collect audience feedback, including the ability to use a proprietary StoryTeller web editor to create web-based polls. Stations can also ask for audience feedback through the use of QR codes or Twitter hashtags. No matter what method is used, the application provides instantaneous updates, making for real-time reporting.
"Real-time audience engagement is the future of live broadcasts. Instead of a one-way approach to communicating a story, this creates a true sense of involvement with their community and the station," says Loren Tobia, Vice President of Sales for AccuWeather's Display Systems and Services division. "What's even more compelling about the StoryTeller platform," adds Tobia, "is that we've made it so straight-forward and easy for stations to implement this type of technology. There's no sophisticated coding or advanced programming skills required. The app is specifically designed to work with StoryTeller, making it simple to create polls in just a matter of minutes."
In addition to the new Polling App, StoryTeller is introducing new and enhanced features at the 2015 NAB show that will transform local news operations. Improved social media and UGC functionality, an all-new traffic solution with innovative 3-D displays, enhanced real-time polling, Drone HD video integration, and groundbreaking weather enhancements with greater alerting functionality and vivid displays will be demoed at the show - AccuWeather Booth #SL6009.
