Tropical Storm Hanna forms over Atlantic Ocean
The week kicked off with a new tropical storm, marking the eighth storm of the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season.
Hurricane hunters battled harsh conditions and powerful winds from Category 3 Hurricane Polo during a flyover mission on Sept. 26.
A new tropical storm is roaming the waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
Tropical Storm Hanna formed late Monday morning around 850 miles northeast of Bermuda, becoming the eighth storm of the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season. It has winds of 45 mph and is tracking due east at 17 mph.
AccuWeather meteorologists say Hanna will remain a tropical storm through midweek before gradually weakening and losing tropical characteristics. The storm is not expected to have any direct impact on the United States.

Hanna joins Fay, which is swirling to its south as a tropical depression.
There are no other areas where tropical development is expected this week, although that could change as the calendar flips.
"In early October, a close eye will need to be kept on the Gulf and off the Southeast coast for possible tropical development," AccuWeather Meteorologist Nick Arman said.
