Los Angeles: Sunshine and warmth to highlight the week

Los Angeles area residents will enjoy a stretch of dry, sunny and warm weather through the week.

An area of high pressure that will be parked over the Pacific Ocean this week will block storms from moving onto the West Coast.

City residents can expect increasing amounts of sunshine and rising temperatures through midweek.

High temperatures are forecast to rise from the mid-60s F at the beginning of the week to the mid-70s on Wednesday. A normal high this time of year is 64.

Residents will need sunglasses and sunscreen as they get outside and enjoy the nice weather by riding a bike, walking the dog or lounging on the beach.

While rain may return to northern California later this weekend, Southern California can expect dry and sunny weather into next week.
