Winter Forecast Is Out!
Our winter forecast is officially out (PREMIUM | PRO). My apologies to snow lovers in the East, and folks suffering from the drought in the Southeast.
(Areas below the dashed line don't normally receive enough snowfall for us to judge this winter's relationship to normal). Other areas will have normal snowfall.
Some of the highlights from Joe Bastardi's annual winter forecast: It will be quite warm in the East, warmer than last winter... except for either end of the period (November & March) which will be cold. Icestorms could be more of a problem than normal in the Plains and Northeast. Some drought areas of the Southeast will worsen.
Actually if you look closely at a comparison of the map above versus our current drought map (I have pasted the "severe drought" areas in red below) there is some hope for the areas of Kentucky and Tennessee currently experiencing severe drought, but the dryness in southern Alabama and eastern North Carolina will almost certainly worsen. Inbetween, it will not get better.
