Wind Graphs of Double NorEasters, Wave Pics
UPDATE: Here are some additional pictures from Winthrop, Mass. and Rodanthe, North Carolina (shoot, I should have been watching that Outer Banks webcam!). See also this blog update on the snowfall with these storms.
Buoy #44018 off Nantucket was in a unique position to observe the "double Nor'easters" of the past few days.
High waves from the second Nor'easter caused coastal flooding on the Massachusetts coast last night. Photo Gallery user "stewiemoose" had some great pictures of terrifying waves crashing under homes at Scituate, Massachusetts [Google Map].
The graphs below show this rare phenomenon. At the buoy, pressure bottomed out at 29.65" Friday morning with winds of 43 knots, recovered to over 30.00" pressure over the weekend, then dropped to 29.65" again last night with winds gusting to 46 knots (53 mph).
Waves built to nearly 20 feet Friday morning, dropped to under 10 over the weekend, then crested at nearly 20 feet again last night.
It even snowed at the Patriots game. Boston.com has more details. Here's a video from Plum Island, MA, showing similar conditions (read more about the situation there from TheBostonChannel.com):
