Video Blog: Tornado Outbreak Starts Quickly
UPDATE: As of 11 PM, 30 tornadoes have been reported. According to our Wichita office... "As of 9:30 PM, there is a report (via stormtrack.org) of 5 fatalities in Pitcher, OK as well as 3 fatalities in southwest Missouri. This is from the long track tornado that started in southeast Kansas."

The storm that tracked through central Arkansas had an unusual amount of lightning compared to other storms in the area; altogether the storms in the Arkansas area dropped nearly 50,000 cloud-to-ground lightning strikes between 8 and 10 PM, according to AccuWeather.com LightningPlus.

Today's tornado outbreak started suddenly this evening, with 20 tornado reports and over 40 Tornado Warnings between 6:15 and 7:40 PM. Supercell thunderstorms are crawling across the South and I take a look at the radar, warnings and reports in the video blog below. Stay tuned for additional updates as conditions warrant.
