V-Blog: Flooding Photo, Map Analysis, Records
A flooding update -- according to NOAA AHPS, 75 river gauges will be over flood stage during the next 24 hours, spanning an area from south Texas to southern Wisconsin and east to Pennsylvania. Currently 59 gauges are flooding. In the video blog below, I concentrate on the Findlay, Ohio flooding but also take a look at the observed and forecast flooding gauges in Google Earth (click here to find out how to view River data yourself in Earth).

Chris Burt [JessePedia], Author of "Extreme Weather" , offers this perspective on the situation in Madison, Wisconsin:
The question, of course, is how much more rain will these areas get? Here's the latest NMM Forecast Model map, hot off the presses, showing rainfall over the next two days:
Note that this is a shift southeastward in the bulk of the precipitation versus last night's model run.
I'm worried particularly about more heavy rainfall in Findlay, Ohio and Stratford, Iowa. This morning's map, shown above, keeps both of these areas out of the heavy rain, but not necessarily the river basins which flow into them. As I said in the video, I'm very concerned about the Stratford area because the river there is still rising (AHPS).
