Updated Southern Severe Stats, A Bit Surprising
I wrote on Saturday morning about the stats from our southern severe weather outbreak and how it compared to the larger outbreak last year at the end of May into early June. The weekend reports paled in comparison to the previous two days, but we are on Day 5 of continuing supports across the South and there is a large Slight risk in effect today, up into the Ohio Valley. Here's an update on total stats, taking all four days (4/9-4/12) into account:
*Warning numbers are composited from daily numbers. Due to Z-time, warning numbers could be polluted by previous day or may not contain reports after 00Z. Storm Report numbers are correct because they are 12Z-12Z.
Yesterday's surprise was the lack of severe spotter reports, and especially tornado reports, under the SPC's Moderate Risk area around southern Louisiana. Below is a map combining the two maps from The SPC [JessePedia]:
