Storm: Power Out, Blogging Continues

BREAKING NEWS...

One of the worst severe thunderstorms that I've experienced in years just ripped through the State College, Pennsylvania and Centre County area. The power went out around 8:15 and is still out 20 minutes later. I can't see a single light from here at home; most of the city must be dark. There is no report yet from the local newspapernor any storm reports passed on by the local NWS office.

But thanks to my Dell Latitude D810, Verizon's 1X wireless broadband, and the Sierra Wireless AirCard 555, my blogging continues. I'd like to think I'm the only person in the county blogging during a power outage; that's my commitment to you -- to get the news out when other sources fail.

The storm featured high winds (branches down and a Porta-Potty moved into the middle of the street in my neighborhood), heavy rain, and incredibly frequent lightning. I took some video and photos of the storm, though it came in quickly after an evening of mini-golfing and hamburgers. When the power comes back on, I'll upload them.
