Snow, Sleet Videos From AccuWeather HQ
We're getting the proverbial "mixed bag" of winter precipitation this morning here in State College, Pennsylvania, home of AccuWeather HQ [Google Map]. The radar says it's snowing, but as we've discussed before, radars can lie, and in this case the computer algorithm is incorrect, in fact it's mostly freezing rain across the state (download raw airport observation plots for Pennsylvania and the Northeast from our Pro site).
It was a dicey ride to work this morning on roads that were covered with ice, snow and sleet... below is an edited video showing the view from my car when I left the house, and when I arrived at AccuWeather.
And now for another quick video that I took when a wall of precipitation hit us on radar -- it ended up to be heavy sleet with huge snowflakes about the size of silver dollars! This video was taken from the south-facing porch here at Accu HQ. More videos and photos coming soon, including a timelapse of some interesting clouds this morning.

When those big snowflakes started coming down, you can see how quickly the roads became covered (the two shots below of I-99 across town were taken less than 10 minutes apart). Other shots I've captured today from the PennDot Cams are available for download here, including ones of I-80 showing only one lane open and trucks at the side of the road.
Meteo Madness Man (PREMIUM | PRO) also took some video when he arrived this morning.
