Reed Timmer Chases Supercell T-Storms in the Catskills
As you've probably heard, Extreme Meteorologist Reed Timmer is chasing for AccuWeather.com this season. He was headed back to Oklahoma to storm chase last weekend when he decided last-minute to pursue supercell storms in the Catskill Mountains of the New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts border region. As you know, we chase a little differently here in the tree- and mountain-filled eastern U.S.
While we uploaded a short version of his video to our Video Wall, I figured my storm chasing readers would appreciate the whole thing, especially if they are East Coast chasers:
Reed also sent me this radar image, saying "I had a drastic last-second change in target area today, and ended up chasing supercell storms in the Catskills Mountains of the NY/CT/MA Border region.. One had mothership structure and all very low wall clouds, and even a possible tornado early on but can't confirm. "
Reed, you definitely caught a good one, by East Coast standards. I hope the chase wasn't too frustrating. You can watch more of his videos on our Video Wall.
