August 6-11, 2007: 1,827 Records Tied or Broken
ORIGINAL POST: Here's a summary of this week's record-breaking heat and humidity wave as of Saturday. Since most areas cooled off slightly today, this is the last version of this list.
A total of
high temperature records were tied (328) or broken (723) between Monday and Saturday.
Augusta, Georgia broke their daily record high from 1878 on Tuesday, reaching 104. Wilmington, NC tied their Wednesday record from 1879 at 98 degrees.
Greenville, South Carolina set an all-time maximum low (overnight) record temperature of 76 Wednesday. 104 also tied the all-time record high at Charlotte, NC Thursday and Roanoke, VA set a new all-time maximum low at 79. Same thing for Wilmington, NC which only dipped to 83 degrees Thursday. On Friday, Augusta, GA tied their all-time record high temp at 108, as did Columbia, SC at 107. Previous reports that Greenville, SC had tied or exceeded their record high may be incorrect. Clarification will be posted here later.
