O.T.: Speed Limit Enforced by Aircraft
During my recent vacation down south, I had to endure the state of Virginia for its maximum extent from top to bottom. Along the way were many signs like this, and they have always been there, but this year I had to take a picture.
Now, I don't patently have anything against aircraft CHECKING speed limits and working with police cars on the ground to pull over speeders. I don't have any problem with them MONITORING my speed. But this (especially with the military brown background) makes it sound like they will land a helicopter on my car, perhaps launch some sort of missile at me, or drop a bomb to make me drive at the correct speed, something I've only seen happen in Need For Speed Hot Pursuit 2 [JessePedia], of which you can view a video by clicking play here).
That said, I've never seen said aircraft in all my travels through the state of Virginia, so it's probably just a scare tactic, which when combined with their outlawing of radar detectors, probably wins them the most careful speeders on the East Coast if nothing else.
