Major I-95 Flooding Storm Continues Pattern
Every time I look at the forecast maps I get more and more concerned about the heavy rain event in the I-95 corridor and New England; our forecast rainfall amounts (which you can see below) have doubled since yesterday. It will start tonight, but will keep raining heavily through Wednesday morning in the Northeast. Major flooding with road closures is likely; see this story and updated stories on AccuWeather.com for more info.
Our official forecast has a wide area of 3-6 inches surrounding the I-95 corridor from Washington D.C. through Boston, similar to what the GFS computer forecast model is showing this morning.
It's interesting if you compare this to where the heavy precipitation has been this winter, it's really the same area; this is just another storm in a long line of 2009-2010 northeast storms. Click here for more information and a seasonal radar loop.
