Lightning Strikes Plane
Channel 5 Cincinnati reports that a plane (Comair Flight 5242) flying from Greensboro, North Carolina to Cincinnati, Ohio was struck by lightning Wednesday. The lightning hit the right wing tip and fortunately there were no injuries.
As you can see below, no lightning was detected at the time of the strike, but remember that our lightning data shows only strikes that hit the ground ("Cloud to Ground strikes") and you don't need one of those if you're in the air.
