Latest Snow Followup
As a followup to my post yesterday about Harrisburg, Pennsylvania possibly seeing its latest snow ever, it looks like they just missed it by a day, but the late 1-inch record still could be beat. The NWS said in a statement yesterday evening:
Here's a map showing other snow-starved locations as we move towards February, with their normal seasonal snowfalls shown in parentheses in the list below:
Albany, NY: 2.9" (64")
Pittsburgh, PA: 4.4" (43")
Boston, MA: 1.4" (42")
Harrisburg, PA: 0.1" (35")
New York City, NY: 0.4" (28")
Philadelphia, PA: 0.8" (20")
Washington, DC: 1.2" (22")
This gives you an idea of exactly how far behind we are for snowfall in these cities. Although Harrisburg is impressive at 35 inches below seasonal total, Albany is even more so -- they have to get 61 inches yet this season. Of course, there's always room for a Superstorm or two, which could fix all this, but we'll have to wait and see.
