Lake-Effect Snow Part 2, Reports Wanted
The second significant lake-effect snow event of the season is on tap, starting tonight. Last week's event seemed lame, but it was just a lack of reporting on the public's part. Although no amounts over 2 inches were reported on the day of the event (November 6th), three days later a NWS report of three amounts in Michigan near 8 inches came out.
Knowing how much snow fell requires human reports because meteorological instruments can't measure it. There are two ways that you can report snowfall amounts - call your local NWS [JessePedia] office or visit their website, or report it directly on the SnowMatrix, a national snowfall database.
