INT: Wake Island Damage Photos
The U.S. military has reported that damage on Wake Island, which took a direct hit from Super Typhoon Ioke on August 31, is "less than expected." There's also an article here from KHON.com. The military is back on-site this week cleaning up, but the weather station still hasn't resumed reporting.
In fact, I'm amazed that there are any buildings or trees left standing. Again, I recall my rant of earlier this summer about how hurricanes cause less destruction than hyped ahead of their landfall. I mean if you can't decimate an island with a Super Typhoon, what will do it?
