GFS Plays Plinco, Hype Back To Square 1
This is a great example of how models can be misleading, and ironically even the solution presented today by the GFS Forecast Model [JessePedia] may be misleading in the end. But check out how, in the past 2 days, the (final) landfalls predicted by the model started in Texas, moved up to the Canadian Maritimes, then back to Texas!
The reason is not really rocket science, it's all about where the storm gets caught in the cogs of the atmosphere or not. It's kind of like that old Price Is Right game "Plinco" where you drop a circle and it bounces off the pegs, only in the atmosphere the pegs are moving around. And they say it's not fun to be a forecaster!
