Flooding: A Foot in MD, Mudslides in D.C.

Washington D.C., northern Maryland, eastern Pennsylvania and eastern New York state were the scenes for heavy rain Sunday evening and overnight. Here's a Doppler-Estimated Precipitation image for the last 24 hours:

Here's what we expect to fall in the next 24 hours. This is not good news for D.C., where The Times Union reports that the Capitol Beltway was closed due to a mudslide Sunday and Amtrak trains were unable to run through high water. Even at the White House, a tree fell over on the president's lawn. Parts of Maryland received 10-12 inches, according to the article.
