Extreme Number of Record Highs
There were 82 record reports issued by the National Weather Service on Tuesday, placing that day solidly in the top 10 "record record" days since I started, well, keeping records of the records in March 2003.
Seventy of the reports were high temperatures in the South, which has been treated with utmost care thus far this fall. For example, no major city in Texas has fallen below 70 degrees for a high temperature yet.
This was then followed by nearly 60 more record high reports on Wednesday, for a two-day total of almost 130 record highs broken. For further details, each individual report can be found here.
