Disappointing Danny Maps
Tropical Storm Danny is no longer, having merged into an extratropical low this morning according to the NHC. Danny has disappointed storm enthusiasts but elated East Coast residents who didn't want to deal with a hurricane - kind of.

I say "kind of" because the two systems are stilll going to bring heavy rain and some wind to the Northeast coast today (see AccuWeather.com and the weather headlines at right for more information), and rip currents and rough surf will still abound. What's left of the low pressure system is too close to the Outer Banks this morning to cause any overwash on the webcam I mentioned yesterday; the wind field has the wind coming off the land on the Outer Banks.
And since the combo-storm isn't tropical, there's plenty of lightning offshore.
