Deadly Cell-Phone, Lightning Connection?
According to this article, a man was killed this week in Malaysia while (supposedly) talking on his cell phone and riding a motorcycle.
Of course what you're going to ask is, can lightning follow radio waves? This rumor has made the rounds on the Internet before. I'm not sure what the relationship between radio waves and electricity would be in the air; sounds like a job for the Mythbusters (they've tested lightning myths before but not this one specifically).
My guess, for this unfortunate turn of events, is that riding that big hunk of metal was the more important part of the equation. Remember it is a myth that you are protected in a vehicle because of the tires. Remember, lightning just came down tens of thousands of feet through the air. An inch of rubber is not gonna stop it.
