Could Pacific Alma Become Atlantic Arthur?
The government's NHC finally issued a Special Tropical Disturbance statement today, about a system that I first mentioned nearly two weeks ago, and that AccuWeather.com has provided updates on since early this week. They said:
"AN AREA OF LOW PRESSURE... ASSOCIATED WITH THE REMNANTS OF FORMER EASTERN PACIFIC TROPICAL STORM ALMA... IS CENTERED OVER THE GULF OF HONDURAS ABOUT 50 MILES EAST OF THE COAST OF BELIZE. DEVELOPMENT OF THIS SYSTEM APPEARS UNLIKELY DURING THE NEXT DAY OR SO AS IT MOVES SLOWLY WESTWARD OR WEST-NORTHWESTWARD OVER THE SOUTHERN YUCATAN PENINSULA..."
Below is the latest Model Spread for this area of investigation... as they said above, most models keep it over land for the forseeable future.
