Cool Lake-Effect Radar Loops
UPDATE: As promised, a longer loop of the MCV has been placed online (download the GRR2 loop). My Buddy Scott [JessePedia] has also posted a huge satellite loop showing a second MCV on his blog.
ORIGINAL POST:
The lake-effect snow machine was cranking last night in the Northeast and I have a number of radar animations available, courtesy AccuWeather.com RadarPlus.
Some highlights...check out the Mesoscale Convective Vortex [JessePedia] dropping southward on Lake Michigan this morning...
(I'll upload a longer loop of that MCV later today). You can also watch a heavy lake-effect band snake through Oswego County, NY...
Also available... watch the winds morph lines of snow east of Marquette, MI... and tank Buffalo, NY with heavy snow.
I have uploaded a couple movies into our video player above, but if you download all the high-res movies they are much more fun because they play faster. NOTE: These movies require Apple Quicktime to view. To view these movies in Firefox, click on the links. To view these movies in Internet Explorer, right-click, save to your Desktop.
