Continuous Coastal Storm Updates...
UPDATE: This blog entry has been superseded by a newer one.
UPDATE 4 PM: Power outages now approaching 50,000; list below updated. The rainfall amounts have gotten really impressive with North Carolina and Virginia added to the "more than 9-inch accumulation club" (Alabama was already in it). There is a wide swath of 6-10 inches of rain across the eastern parts of North Carolina and Virginia.
This image does a good job of illustrating the "fetch" (long area where wind is blowing in a straight line). If you look at the buoy at the southwest end of that fetch that would be #44009 currently sporting 23-foot waves.

UPDATE 2 PM: One of my favorite places, the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel is now at Level 4 Restrictions. If winds get any higher, it will be forced to close.
UPDATE: 12 PM: All stats below updated. Waves now 22 feet off NJ coast. Reports of damage from our Facebook fans.
UPDATE 10 AM: Rainfall stats added below, over 9 inches in North Carolina! 3 fisherman are missing after their boat sank off the New Jersey coast. 2 were rescued off the NC coast last night.

I will be providing updates today via this blog and my Twitter feed; I will also be updating our BreakingWeather Twitter feed and of course we'll be updating AccuWeather.com with news & videos all day including some from our Hurricane Expert Joe Bastardi.
