Anniv. of Most Powerful Hurricane
One year ago this week, the most powerful hurricane ever in the Atlantic basin was spawned. One year ago today, Hurricane Wilma [WikiPedia] was pounding the Yucatan. Then she took a severe turn towards the Northeast, passing over Florida with 134 mph winds, then combining with an incoming front to bring 38-foot waves offshore and more than two feet of snow with 100 mph winds in the Northeast.
Below is a graphic which lists Wilma's Greatest Hits:
- Lowest Pressure in an Atlantic Storm (882 mb)
- Largest Electrical Disruption in Florida History
- $20.6 Billion Damages (3rd Costliest)
- 9-Foot Storm Surge
You can see a list of all of my blog entries on Hurricane Wilma below.
