Alaska Flooding Photos, Graphs
Heavy flooding occurred in Alaska Sunday, per adn.com and other Google News sources. Adn.com also has an impressive photo slide show, and additional Associated Press photos are shown below.
According to NOAA's flood network, the Little Susita peaked at nearly 14 feet (archived graph, see also Willow Creek), beating the record 12 and a half feet set in 1986. The ADN article also said: "A gauge near the headwaters of Willow Creek measured 9.6 inches of rain from Thursday to Monday morning." The highest USGS gauge report I could find was Paxon (archived graph), which received 8 inches in the last week.

Flooding and mudslides brought on by heavy rain closed the main highway and rail line between Anchorage and Fairbanks, causing residents in low-lying area to evacuate their homes. Highway department officials said they expected the highway to be closed for at least two days. (AP Photo/Al Grillo)
