A tale of three nor'easters
It's been a crazy, snowy month for New England. Three nor'easters have hit the area in two weeks. Here's what they looked like on satellite:

And here is the snowfall that they wrought:

Note that no two snow storms are ever the same -- the first storm was an eastern New York state special, while the second was worse from northern New Jersey into southern Vermont. This week's nor'easter featured heavy snow from Rhode island up through Maine. Note that the major cities stayed out of the first storm and Cape Cod didn't get any snow at all until storm number three.

A few areas got hit twice with heavy snow, though how much really feel at any particular point isn't clear. The map above covers the last two storms, but omits the first. A large part of New England received 2-3 feet from both storms.
The other big story with these storm triplets was the wind. The first storm was called #windmageddon on Social Media and caused widespread tree damage, cutting power to over 2.5 million customers -- I did a whole blog on that event. The second storm didn't have notable wind. This week's storm brought high winds to coastal New England, cutting power to 250,000 -- one tenth what #windmageddon had done.

A complete list of top snowfall amounts by state, and top wind gusts, for all three storms is shown below:
