350,000 STILL Without Power
Incredibly, Duke Power reported last night that 350,000 people were still without power in their service area (most of western North and South Carolina), following Friday's ice storm.

More than 9,000 workers from 16 states are working to restore power to these areas. Some counties were marked for "Tuesday 11 p.m." as a restoration time.

They also have photos of the damage.
I remember some notable power outages when living in Duke's area (nothing against them necessarily; NC gets some harsh weather). For example after Hurricane Hugo in 1989, we were without power for 10 days and without phone service for 15 days.
