Alex Brands science experiments

By Dave Samuhel, AccuWeather senior meteorologist

Alex Brands kindly passed along several child-oriented science kits for me to try out. I had plenty of help from my 3- and 5-year-old children. Granted most of the kits are for kids that are 6 years or older. We still had plenty of fun trying out the experiments.

All of the science kits we tried are Alex Brands, which are available here

The first one we tried was the awesome aerospace science kit

We had a lot of fun flying the helicopter and shooting the plane. We launched balloon powered racers and enjoyed even more. Even though this is designed for kids 8 and older. My younger children were able to enjoy with my help.

The tornado machine was a big hit.

Just pop in the batteries, add water and you are good. The kids had a blast with this one, check out the video below.

Another fun kit was a weather station.

This was ready to use out of the box. Just stick it in the ground and observe the weather!

Lastly we tried the telescope.

This telescope features zoom power strong enough to see the rings of Saturn! The tripod is easily adjustable height-wise. So, you can make it easy for children to use. However, you can extend the tripod legs so that adults can easily use as well.

All in all, the Alex Brands science kits were great. They are a wonderful way to get children interested in any type of science!
