    • Wind Warning

Wind Warning in effect until Thursday, 4:59 AM MDT. Source: Environment Canada

Strong winds that may cause damage are expected or occurring.

An intense low pressure system continues to bring strong northerly winds, with gusts over 100 km/h, this evening. These strong winds will begin to gradually diminish later this evening.

In the Pincher Creek, Cardston, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat and Cypress Hills regions strong westerly winds continue with gusts up to 100 km/h. Winds here will switch to northerly this evening with strong gusts up to 100 km/h still possible. Winds will subside in these regions overnight.

Rain also continues to move across most of central and southern Alberta this afternoon. General rainfall amounts will be in the 20 to 30 mm range by Thursday morning with locally higher amounts possible due to embedded thunderstorms. Additionally farther to the west, along and near the Alberta foothills, rain has become mixed with snow this afternoon. Over some of the higher terrain snowfall accumulations may approach up to 5 cm by Thursday morning. Precipitation will begin to taper off overnight.

Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur. Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage.
