Several days in the 90s in store for much of the Southeast this week
Many warm, summerlike days are expected for the southeastern United States heading into Memorial Day weekend.
Areas of the Deep South and the Carolinas had temperatures in the 90s, along with high humidity, on Sunday.
A storm system will help to clear out the hot, muggy air in the East by midweek, including in the Carolinas.
For some communities, the drop in temperature will be quite noticeable. After having highs in the 90s F over the weekend, Raleigh will have temperatures falling into the lower to middle 80s for Tuesday.
For others, afternoon highs on Tuesday will dip only a few degrees into the upper 80s to near 90, like in Atlanta, and Charlotte, North Carolina.
Temperatures will rebound very quickly into the 90s late this week and continue to rise.

"A very summerlike pattern will be setting up later in the week as a strong high pressure system expands across the Deep South and into the Carolinas," said AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Randy Adkins.
This area of high pressure will provide mostly dry days across the Southeast and steer any relief away from the region.
Afternoon highs will be well into the 90s from central Florida thought the Deep South and into Tennessee and North Carolina by Thursday.
While a day in the 90s is not uncommon for mid-May in places like Atlanta, Thursday's forecast high of 91 degrees is 9 degrees above normal for this time of year.

Similar temperature jumps above normal are expected for other major cities across the area, even into Friday and the weekend.
Many locations could challenge record highs from Friday through Sunday, with a few spots potentially nearing 100 degrees.
"When factoring in moderate humidity and strong sunshine, AccuWeather RealFeel® Temperatures will average 5-10 degrees higher than measured air temperatures, making it feel even more oppressive," added Adkins.
Residents should be sure to leave outdoor activities for the cooler parts of the day (the morning and late evening) and find cool spots to retreat to during the heat of the day.
Even going to the beaches will provide only minimal relief in some locations, with temperatures still well into the 80s for many.
Whether inside or outside, drinking plenty of water in order to remain hydrated during this time will be essential. Sunscreen, hats, sunglasses and protective, light-weight clothing will be necessary when going outdoors.
