Allergy Attack

By Samantha-Rae Tuthill, AccuWeather staff writer

Many look forward to the spring season. We just sprang forward and have extra hour of daylight in the evening. With the start of spring, however, comes an increase in seasonal allergies.

The month of March has its ups and downs, though over the month signals an increase in overall temperature. Higher temperatures mean the start of the growing season, with an abundance of bloom and and increased amount of pollen.

While dust and dander start to take a dip with indoor allergy, due to increased moisture, many outdoor allergies come to life as we turn the corner into the spring time months.

As buds bloom, tree pollen escalates. Grass and weed pollen follow suite, causing many to caugh, sneeze and have a runny nose.

The worst-case scenario is when a chilly start to the spring is accompanied by a fast warmup with little rain. Typically, spring showers wash the pollen to the ground, but with no water to rinse the plants the pollen dust is free to gather and blow around at will.

AccuWeather's allergy forecast has you covered top to bottom with any and every type of pollen that may have you sneezing or wheezing.
