Multiple waterspouts as thunderstorm razes Outer Banks
A large thunderstorm traversed much of the Outer Banks in North Carolina this morning, spinning off waterspouts as it dropped over 3 inches of rain. The storm formed near a frontal boundary. Multiple waterspouts were reported, including the one shown in the video below.
This video shows a large waterspout forming in the Albemarle Sound near Colington, North Carolina Island on July 10.
The radar loop below shows the storm in reflectivity and one-hour precipitation versions -- the storm dropped over three inches of rain in some areas! Nags Head, North Carolina, was subjected to nearly two hours of heavy rain.
