GFS Cold Hype Still There

Some of you have written in, noticing a change in the forecast, wondering where the cold air went, and wanting to know if AccuWeather is ready to recant on its promise of extreme cold during the next 30 days.

The GFS Forecast Model [JessePedia] has made some changes to its forecast, notably increasing the amount of warmth in-between the cold shots, but the extreme cold air is still in there. In fact, it's moved next week's pool of cold air south from Iowa to Kansas:

And there is still the promise of plenty of extreme cold for the major East Coast cities:

The second outbreak is still there; observe most of the nation below freezing for low temperatures on the 25th:

- The GFS almost always forecasts too cold in week two
- It's only one forecast model!
