Final Hurricane Ike Report, Then Moving On...

By Jesse Ferrell, AccuWeather meteorologist

UPDATE: New blog entries are available regarding "The Last House Standing" (which has additional photos) and "Google Earth Damage Vlog: Before & After." The NWS has added additional links on their Ike page, probably the most interesting is the Ike Wind Analyses page by NOAA, a sample of that site is shown below.

ORIGINAL BLOG ENTRY:

I know those of you outside of the area affected by Ike are probably tired of hearing about it on my blog. But hey, it was an incredible storm, and caused the largest U.S. weather-related power outage in 15 years (so I say, leave me a comment on yesterday's entry if I'm wrong).

So after this morning, I will be moving on, and further updates will mostly be posted to "J's Breaking Weather News" at right. Here are some final links:

I will also be providing some long loops of Ike's history via radar and satellite, but it will take me a couple of days to gather. I will add them here when I'm done.

Here are a couple other incredible, late-breaking photos from Hurricane Ike. Note this first one was a day before the storm hit! The surge that preceeded the storm had already overwashed the island.
