Another Tropical Threat for Socotra
A tropical low that brought flooding to parts of southern India early this week has emerged into the Arabian Sea and will track westward and away from India in the coming days.
This tropical low will be monitored for the potential to develop into a tropical cyclone as it moves westward over the open Arabian Sea the rest of the week.
A westward track will take the low or weak tropical system in the direction of Socotra Island, which has been devastated by two rare tropical cyclones in the past 10 days.

While direct impacts from a significant cyclone are unlikely this time around, another round of rain and potentially gusty winds is possible as early as this week or early next week.
It also remains possible that the low weakens further and never reaches Socotra Island, or even turns southwest bringing nothing more than a brief shower or thunderstorm with more significant impacts for Somalia.
