Weather pattern update into early August
By Brett Anderson, AccuWeather senior meteorologist
Published Jul 7, 2020 3:13 PM EDT
A fairly typical summertime weather pattern with a broad upper-level high pressure ridge will be centered over the Rockies and stretch all the way into the East.
What this means is that much of the United States and the eastern half of southern Canada will have mostly above-normal temperatures for the rest of the month.
Parts of northeast Ontario and Quebec may receive some much needed rainfall during the last full week of the month as the jet stream directs more storms toward the region.
There are some strong indicators that there will be a pocket of cooler air settling in across western Canada next week.
By the end of the month, the western ridge may strengthen and would allow a dip in the jet stream across the East, which may bring some cooling and perhaps some thunderstorms.
