Plains Storm Will Bring Midweek Snow to the East

It appears that parts of the northern U.S. Plains will easily see their biggest snowstorm of the season Tuesday into Wednesday with blizzard conditions. As the storm tracks east, it will lose strength as a secondary forms off the coast, but there will still be enough moisture for a moderate snowfall over parts of Ontario and southern Quebec Wednesday and Thursday.

From Toronto to London, Ontario, it looks like there will be a several-hour period of snow Wednesday morning. This snow will bring a small accumulation before it changes to a mix then rain. Kingston, Ontario, will probably go over to rain at some point Wednesday night before a small accumulation of snow and sleet.

This event should be all snow from North Bay to Ottawa and Montreal, but the heavier precipitation will likely pass to the south across interior New England and eastern New York state.

Snow will eventually reach southern New Brunswick and Nova Scotia on Thursday as the storm reforms well east of New England, which allows the cold air to hold on in these areas for all snow.

Arctic air remains locked away in Alaska and the Yukon for at least the next 10 days with seasonable temperatures in general across the western and central Provinces while temperatures average slightly warmer than normal in the East.
