Watching for Imelda to form, track over Bahamas

A tropical rainstorm is forecast to evolve into a tropical storm and hurricane as it travels from Hispaniola to the Bahamas over the next few days. The next name on the list of tropical storms is Imelda. While the most significant impacts from this storm is forecast to stay to the east of Miami, any jog west in the track could bring heavy rain and strong winds to the region. Some downpours and gusty storms may occur on the storm's western edge. A landfall as a hurricane farther north over the U.S. mainland is one scenario with this storm and could significantly impact highway travel. Seas and surf will build locally this weekend.
