A rapidly strengthening storm will bring heavy snow to southern Virginia with a blizzard possible in southeastern Virginia and North Carolina, while the Philadelphia area will be barely on the northwestern flank of the accumulating snow this weekend. At this time, a coating to 1 inch of snow is most likely, beginning late Saturday night and lasting into Sunday. Up to a few inches of snow may fall along the immediate Atlantic Coast of southern New Jersey and Delaware. The exact accumulation highly depends on the track of the storm. A storm that hugs the mid-Atlantic coast could bring heavier snow to the city, while a storm that drifts farther east may cause no snow to accumulate. Strong winds near the coast, combined with high astronomical tides, will lead to moderate coastal flooding on the bays and shoreline communities in New Jersey and Delaware.
