AccuWeather meteorologists continue to monitor Major Hurricane Milton in the Gulf of Mexico as it tracks toward Florida with landfall likely near St Petersburg from late Wednesday night to early Thursday morning with a RealImpact™ of 5, which is highest on the scale. Impacts in Orlando from increasing wind and torrential rain are expected to begin Wednesday afternoon and into Thursday afternoon. Hurricane conditions are expected in Orlando and throughout the Interstate 4 corridor. From 8 to 12 inches of rain with locally double that amount, can lead to disruptive urban flooding. Outside of flooding and damaging winds, long-lasting widespread power outages are anticipated due to the scope of the storm and resources that have already been deployed in the aftermath of Helene from last week. A few dangerous, quick spin-up tornadoes are also possible in the region from Milton as well.
